Superficial skin infection with yellow/brown crusted or fluid filled pustules. This is Highly contagious as microbe is present in fluid of pustules, needs open wound and easily spread by itching/scratching.

Dx: S. Pyogenes/S. Aureus
Tx: B-Lactams/Mupiricin

(g- facultative intracellular) “Cat Scratch fever”, normally found in Mucosa of animals especially cats- Presents 5-10 after bite/lick with some itching and cervical/axillary lymphadenopathy.

ImC PTs may progress to Bacilliary Angiomatosis-(Widespread subcutaneous nodules with vascularization, and red/purple ulcerations and possible bleeding/drainage from site).

Dx: Silver Stain, PCR

Tx: Normal= Drainage, ImC =Prolonged ABx

Dx: XR, Erodes BAP, Smells of bleach

Tx: Some Problems with ABx resistance

(g- pleiomorphic rod). “Rat Bite Fever”, from oral nasal region of rodents or animals that have eaten rodents; Presents 1-22d incubation w/ Fever/Chills then 2-4d later petechiae/purpuritic nonitchy rash to palms/soles, can have joint/myalgia due to immune complexes, can progress to Liver/Heart/Kidneys

Dx: PCR/ELISA

Tx: B-Lactams
