Pocket money is an amount of money which parents regularly give to their child to spend as they choose. The synonyms is allowance.

Impoverished people should receive free or subsidized housing.

Impoverished is a formal and more advanced word for poor.




To subsidize means to pay part of the cost of something. The noun form is subsidy, as in

Affluent nations should help poorer nations financially.

Affluent is a formal word for rich. It is a very useful word as it collocates with different nouns:
