Mitosis

Is where normal cells are divided and new ones are made

How it works

Interphase

Everything in the cell is being copied and doubled up which are Non -dividing states with 3 sub units.

Meiosis generation of gametes

23 pairs (doubled)

A single germ cell divideds Into 4 unique daughter cells. The daughter cells have half the # chromosomes as the parent cell so they would be considered haploids.

Phrophase

The chromosomes condense the spindle fibres form which are specialised microtubules radiating out from the centrioles. The chromosomes are then captured by the spindle fibres.

Mataphase

The chromosomes align across the equator of the cell with one kinatochore facing each pole.

Anaphase

The sister chromatides separate the spindle fibres then attach to the kinatochore they shorten and pull the chromatides towards the opposite poles.

Telophase

The spindle fibres disintegrate the nuclear envelope from around both groups of chromosomes the chromosomes then revert to their extended state.

Cytokeniesis

Occurs the whole new cell is split into two and contain the full numbers of chromosomes.
