Gama delta T cells
Sentinels. Intraepithelal. Receptors of limited diversity recognize shared microbial lipids.
B-1 B cells
Sentinels. Mainly in peritoneum and mucosa. Produce most of the natural IgM antibodies to microbes and toxins passing through the mucosa. Mostly against microbial CHO
Marginal Zone B cells
Sentinels. Rapid Ab response to blood-borne polysaccharide rich microbes.
3 main goals of compliment
Inflamation, Opsonization, and Lysis of microbes.
PAMPs
Pattern associated molecular patterns. Many different microbes have a shared molecule (PAMP) which body can use to identify them.
DAMPs
Damage associated molecular pattern. What innate immunity uses to recognize damaged cells.
Process of Neutrophil recruitment/movement during inflammation.
1) TNF and IL-1 are secreted by Macs who have been activated by infection
2) ^presence of selectins on vascular side of endothelial cells. 3) Leukocyte has a low affinity receptor for selectin. Causes slowing (rolling) of leukocyte. 4) TNF and IL-1 also ^ presence of intigrin Ligand 5) Leukocytes bind intigrins (flatten out) 6) Chemokines are also secreted in this area which bind to glycoprotiens on vascular side of endothelial cell. 7) Neutrophils bind to chemokines with high affinity bond (pavement aka stop). 8) Chemokines also draw cell through endothelium into area of infection. |
