Mild mental retardation |
-IQ 50-55 to 70 -Can achieve 6th grade level academics -As adolescents/adults, can acquire social and vocational abilities needed to support selves with minimal supervision/guidance |

-IQ 35-40 to 50-55 -Can achieve up to 2nd grade level academics -Benefit from training in social/occupational skills -May be able to perform unskilled or semi-skilled tasks in supervised setting |

-IQ 20-25 to 35-40 -Can acquire elementary self-care skills, learn to count and read simple "survival" workds -Perform simple tasks under close supervision |

ADHD, conduct disorder, schizophrenia, a mood disorder, and/or an anxiety disorder. Personality disorders may also be present |

Borderline intellectual functioning. Mental retardation could be correct if IQ is between 71-75 and also has substantial deficits in adaptive functioning |

-30-40% is unknown -30% early altercations of embryonic development -10% pregnancy and perinatal problems -5% heredity -5% general medical conditions during infancy or childhood (i.e. lead poisioning, encephalitis, malnutrition) |
