Mechanism of Action
Causes vascular dilation and slows conduction through the AV node
Onset
5-15 minutes
Indications
Used to convert supraventricular tachydysrhythmias refractory to adenosine and to slow a-fib/flutter with RVR
Contraindications
severe hypotension or cardiogenic shock, ventricular tachycardia, atrial flutter or atrial fibrillation in patients with WPW
Precautions

dizziness, headache, bradycardia, heart block, hypotension, and asystole
Interactions
intravenous β-blockers
Dosage
2.5-5 mg / 2 minutes IV, may repeat in 15-30 minutes at 5-10 mg / 2 minutes to a maximum dose of 20 mg
