Aminophylline (Aminophylline)
Relaxes Smooth Muscles. For resp difficulty, coughing, wheezing on expiration
INH
For TB. Taken PO for 6-9 months. SFx numbness/tingling on hands & feet. Take Vit B6 (Pyridoxine) for SFx. Montior AST/ALT B4/during Tx.
(Digoxin) Lanoxin
Slows electrical conduction, therefore slows heart rate. Hold if pulse <60. Keep K+ WNL to avoid toxicity
Pantoprazole
(Protonix)
Proton-Pump Inhibitor stops gastric acid production. Goal pH>7
Coumadin
Taken 1 PO Daily, typically in PM
Contraindications for Anticholinergics
Glaucoma (causes pupil dilation)
Can also cause thick secretions, N/V/D, hypotension
Propranolol (Inderal)
Beta-adrenergic blocker. Can cause bronchospasms/constriction. Contraindicated wit COPD.
Verapamin (Calan)
(Ca2+ Channel-Blocker)
Anti-HTN, anti-angina, anti-arrhythmic, coronary vasodilator
Diuril
Diuretic. Depletes K+
Nitroglycerine (Nitrostat)
Vasodilator. Increases supply of oxygenated blood to heart which DEC myocardial O2 demand.
Rifadin
for TB. Take for 6-9 months
Allopurinol (Zyloprim)
Gout. Serious Sfx: Fever or Rash. Indicates potentially fatal hypersensitivity. (may cause SJS)
Enalapril (Vasotec)
Monitor BP for hypotension. SFX: dizziness, Headache, fatigue
Nitropress
Hypertensive Crisis. Administer w/IV Pump for accuracy
Adenosine
Administer via rapid IV bolus over 1-2 secs followed by 20 ML flush of NS. Has half-life of 9 seconds
Gantrisin
UTI PO. Take on empty stomache to increase absorption. CAN crush/break
filgrastim (Neupogen)
Raises Neutrophil count
Trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole
Monitor for crystals in urine from precipitates. Take on empty stomache with H20 to promote absorption. Do NOT drink acidic bevs (can lead to crystals)
Reglan
Promotes Gastric Emptying. Contra if intestinal obstruction
Theophylline (Theo-Dur)
Early sign of Theo-toxicity=vomiting.
Sfx: anorexia, insomnia. Can take with milk if gastic irritation.
Pepcid
Take with food, at PM. Avoid smoking
Flecainide (Tambocor)
Major SFX: arrhythmias. Monitor pulse closely. Can take with food or empty stomache. Other SFX: edema (no extra fluids), N/V dyspepsia, anoroxia
Epoetin alfa (Epogen)
For Anemia. Stimulates erythropoiesis.
