Integumentary system

•Consists of the skin and the various accessory organs associated with it


- hairs, nails, sweat & oil glands



Functions:


•protect the underlying tissue from injury


•protect against water loss


•contain sense receptors

• consists of bones, joints, ligaments, and cartilage

Consists of the brain, spinal cord, associated nerves, and coordinates body activities

Negative feedback mechanism

A response mechanism of the body in which a stimulus initiates a reaction to reduce the stimulus

Cardiovascular

Includes all the glands that secrete chemicals called hormones



Hormones: act as the messengers to regulate cellular activities

Consists of a series of vessels that transport fluid (lymph)

-remove waste from the blood


-regulate fluid level


-regulate chemical content of the body

Reproductive system

Production of new individuals



Consists of gonads


Female- ovaries (produce eggs)


Male- testes (produce sperm)
