Remainder The amount left over. Ordinal Numbers Numbers used to name position or order. first -- 1st second -- 2nd third -- 3rd ... Addends Numbers that are added together. Product The answer to a multiplication problem. Geometry The study of shapes. Algorithm A procedure for getting an answer. Factors Numbers that are multiplied together. Odd Numbers The numbers that are not even. 1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15,17,19, 21,23,... Minus Sign A symbol for subtraction. ( to take away ) The minus sign tells us to subtract the number to the right of the sign from the number to the left of the sign. 5 - 3= 2 Line segment Part of a line. Multiply Adding the same number (the second number) the number of times shown by the first number. Point and Line The simplest shapes in geometry. Number Line Shows numbers at a certain distance from 0. Equation A number sentence with an equal sign. (=) Negative Numbers Numbers to the left of 0. Division Searching for a missing number. Sum The answer to an addition problem. Vertical Line A line extending up and down. Whole Numbers The Counting Numbers and 0. (0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,) "Equal groups" Stories that have a multiplication pattern. In an "equal groups" story problem, one of the numbers is missing. Sequence A counting pattern.
