Mult. (ab)c=a(bc)

Identity Property of Assition and Multiplication

Add. a+0=a
mult. a(1)=a Note: 1 is the Multiplication identity 0 is the addition identity

Zero Property of Multiplication

a(0)=0
Note: this is only for Multiplication

Factor

Any two ot more whole numbers multiplied to form a product

Power

A product which all the factors, except one, are the same.
ex.: 2 to the 4th =16

Exponet

A number indicating how many times the base is used as a factor

Base

A number that is raised to a power

Pemdas

Pparentheses
Eexponents Mmultiply (Do these two from left to right) Ddivide Aadd (do these two in order from left to right) Ssubtract

Numerical expression

Name for a nubmer

Numerical expression

Name for a number

Variable

a symbol that stands for a number

Variable Expression

an expression with variables

Term

a part of an expression that is separated by a mathematical symbol.

Numerical Expression

the nubmer that tells how many of the variable or term exists

Integer

a whole number and its opposite

Absolute Value

a number' s distance from zero

Addition of Integers

1. If the signs are the same, find the sum and keep the same sign
2. If the signs are different, find the difference and keep the sign of the number with the greatest absolute value.

Subtraction of Integers

Add the opposite and follow the addition rules.

Multiplication and Division of Integers

1. If the signs agree (alike) the answer is positive.
2. If the signs disagree (different) the answer is negative.

Commutative Property of Addition and Multiplication

Addition: a+b=b+a
Multiplication: ab=ba
