I was born on 1254 in a Italian city called Venice. Our city gained recognition after we had started trading with the east. My family members are merchants. Me, my father, and my uncle were sent to China. Our journey was taken place on land. We had to face challenging and harsh territories. We met Kublai Khan, leader of the Mongol Empire. Khan was interested in our sophisticated culture so he told us to come back with 100 priests. On our next journey, we were only able to bring 2 priests with us, whom eventually left us because they weren't cut out for the voyage. The places and cultures were remarkable and extremely accurate.

As we traveled through the Middle East, I noticed the sights and smells. We encountered a territory that forced us to retreat into the mountains. An illness had came our way, so we had no choice but to retreat. We crossed the Gobi desert. This desert was so long, it would take a year to cross. The most dangerous factor is that not only it is full of mountains, sand, and narrow valleys, but there is no food to eat or water to drink.

Me, father, and my uncle finally reached China after 4 years of traveling. We once again met Kublai Khan. He was staying in a place called Xanadu. The architecture was dazzling. We were away from Venice for over 23 years.

I was born in Tangier on 1304.I left Tangiers, my birth place on Thursday 2 Rajab, 725 with the intention of going on pilgrimage to Mecca. I was alone, without companions, not in a caravan, but I was stirred by a powerful urge to reach my goal. I left my friends and my home. My father and mother were still alive, and with great pain, I parted with them. I was then only twenty two

I went through North Africa, Upper Egypt, and reached to the town of Aidhab. Unfortunately, I was unable to cross the Red Sea because of a war in Mecca. I could not find a crossing point that was safe enough so I traveled through Syria and Palestine. Afterwards, I went to Iran, Iraq, and back to Mecca and stayed there for about 2 years. While on my journey, I visited Constantinople and reached the Volga shores. I reached the city of Delhi, India. I stayed there for 3 years as a judge. I eventually joined an embassy for China.

I traveled back to Mecca and stayed there for a couple of years. I observed that the people followed Buddhism, but they still treated Muslim people with respect. They logged their houses and gave them food to eat. Indians, however, did the exact opposite, though they were not offensive to us either. I noticed that the Turks left their livestock free to graze without a guardian or shepherd. I reckon that this is because of their strict laws against theft. What amazed me the most was China. Their high quality porcelain, large hens, and massive ships left me speechless.

Ibn Battuta

I was born on 1371 in Kunyang, China. My family is part Muslim and part Chinese. I am the son of a Muslim who went on s pilgrimage to Mecca. My first voyage was on 1405. I sailed 62 ships and over 27,0000 men. Our fleet traveled through Champa, Siam, Malacca, and Java. Then we sailed through the Indian Ocean and headed back to China two years later

The following year, I went on my second voyage. I traveled to Calicut and stopped at Chochin. During my voyage, I witnessed the havoc caused by a king known as Alagonakkara of Ceylon. Our fleet defeated his forces and we took the king back as a captive in Nanjing. On my third voyage, I sailed to Hormuz on the Persian Gulf. I returned at Samurda on 1411.

Zheng He

I left China for his fourth voyage in 1413 and returned in 1415. I went on two more voyages afterwards, traveling form the Persian Gulf, Southeast Asia, Arabia, and the east coast of Africa.
