Kansas-Nebraska Act
a) Abolished the line separating free from slave territory in the Louisiana Purchase. (nullifies Missouri Compromise)

Compromise of 1850
California was admitted as free state. More effective fugitive slave law was enacted. Slave trade was prohibited in District of Columbia.
Missouri Compromise
Maine admitted as free state and Missouri admitted as a slave state and slavery prohibited above 36 30 line in Lousiana territory.
Dred Scott Decision
a) Scott did not have the right to sue because he wasn't a citizen.
b) Since Scott is a property, Congress has no right to deprive a citizen of his property rights.
c) Court declared Missouri Comprise unconstitutional because 5th amendment says that congress has no right to limit property rights by forbidding a citizen to take slaves into any US territory.
John Brown's Raid
Brown seized a US arsenal at Harper's Ferry, Virginia in order to distribute firearms for slave uprisings against their masters.
