What happens when the anesthesia machine loses power?
monitors lost, but flowmeter/vaporizer control intact
What happens when the anesthesia machine loses power and backup battery?
May lose N2O and vaporizers (esp w/ electrical vaporizers)
What are the outlets built into the anesthesia machine for?
Monitoring only - never Bair hugger, etc.
What is the high pressure circuit?
From the gas inlet to the pressure regulator
What is the intermediate pressure circuit?
from the pressure regulator to the flowmeter control valve
What is the low pressure circuit?
From the flowmeter control valve to the common gas outlet.
Describe the O2 supply alarm
Alarms at less than 30 psig O2. Requires O2 in a resevoir, which blows a reed whistle.
What is an oxygen failure safety device?
Pneumatically operated valve that shuts off or reduces N2O as O2 pressure falls. Generic term
What is the O2 supply pressure failure protection device? Who uses it?
DRager - Proportionally reduces N2O w/ O2 fall, cuts all gases beside O2 when O2 falls to 12 psig
What is the Pressure sensor shut-off valve? Who uses it?
Ohmeda. When O2 < 20-25 psig, N2O/other gasses cut off, "all or nothing."
What is the gas selector switch?
On some models, can select N2O only or All gasses (e.g. N2O+air)
