Judgements and Decisions

opinions that we make after thinking about information and evidence. We use evidence from what we read and our own experiences to make judgements which lead to decisions.

Drawing Conclusions

when you use facts and details from the reading and your own life experiences to form a better picture of characters and events

Inference

Writers don't always tell readers exactly what a character thinks. We have to find clues in the story (text) and use our own experiences to read between the lines and to figure out, accurately, what the character is thinking

Predict

We use info from the text along with our own experiences to guess ahead of time what might happen in the story. It's okay to be wrong when we predict--we just revise and try again.
