The organization founded in 1888 to further phonetic research and develop the international Phonetic alphabet.
glottis
the opening between the vocal chord
larynx
the structures of muscles and cartilage in the throat that contains the vocal cords and glotis; often called "voice box"
Pharynx
the tube or cavity in the vocal tract above the glottis through which the air passes during speech production.
