Dependency-support script
One of two patterns displayed by those working with elderly. Dependent behaviors are attended to immediately.
Both this and independence-ignore script reinforce behavior at the expense of independent behavior, regardless of the older person's competencies.

Life care communities
Offer a range of housing alternatives, from independent or congregate housing to full nursing home care. For a large initial payment and additional monthly fees, life care guarantees that seniors' changing needs will be met within the same facility as they age.
Optimal aging
Gains are maximized and losses minimized a contemporary experts' view.
Person-environment fit
A good match between their abilities and the demands of their living environments, which promotes adaptive behavior and psychological well-being.
Reminiscence
Telling stories about their people and past events from their past and reporting associated thoughts and feelings.
Life review reminiscence - calling up past experiences with the goal of achieving greater self-understanding. (Usually high self accepting people do this)
Self-focused reminiscence - used to reduce boredom and revive bitter events. (Many are anxious and depressed do this)
Other-focused reminiscence - directed at social goals, such as strengthening family and friendship ties and reliving relationships with lost loved ones. (Extrovert seniors usual suspects)
Secondary friends
People who are not intimate but with whom they spend time occasionally, such as a group that meets for lunch, bridge, or museum tours.

An influential model of change in our social networks as we move through life.
Third age
Ages around 65-79 which is a time of personal fulfillment .
First age - childhood
Second - adult period earning a living and rearing children
Fourth - physical decline and need for care.

The ability to maximize positive emotion and dampen negative emotion.
