middle-age to elderly adults, slightly higher in males. Hallmark finding marked WBC >100 x 10^9/L. Blood picture exhibits shift-to-the-left. with all stages of neutrophils and >basophils. LAP stain distinguishes CML from leukomoid.

Chronic Myeloblastic Leukemia (CML)

An immature rbc that is anuclear, but contains residual cytoplasmic RNA and organelles such as mitochondria and ribosomes. Spends 3 days in bone marrow and 1 day in peripheral blood before developing into a mature rbc. An > in retic. count is associated with >erythropoisis. >in patients with hemolytic anemia, IDA, megloblastic anemia and uremia
