Robert e. lee
in 1862 robert e lee took command of the confederate army
that year then union tried twice more to attack richmond he defeated them. after the victories lee decided to invade the north the union army stopped him

is the freeing of enslaved people. the proclamation declared that slaves in the confederacy were free,but it did not end slavery for the border states.
