8 steps to how a bill becomes a law

1. Introduced by Senate or Representative


2.1st Reading:Clerk reads and assigns a number/title


3. Speaker or President Pro Tempo sends the bill to the proper committee


4. Committee debates on the bill, deciding to pass it, change it, replace, pigeon hole it, or kill it


5. Bill is sent to floor for debate


6. Bill is voted on and is sent to other house of Congress and process is repeated


7. After passing both houses the bill is sent to the president


8. The president can cign it, send back to congress, veto it, or do nothing
