Heavy Monsoons- 900mm fell , extensive snow melt in the Himalayas, most of Bangledesh is flat land lowere than 12m above sea level.

Trees take in water through their roots so when they are cut down they can no longer help to con trol the flooding.

The impermeable surfaces make it difficult for the water to soak into the ground.

Some shelters have been built on stilts and flood wardens have been appointed to warn villages if a flood is near.

Over 4000 schools damaged and affected by the floods, 44 schools were destroyed completly.
