What is law?
The rules of condust usually established and enforced by authority in society.
What is case law?
A body of law in which courts have applied the principles established in presedents.
What is common law?
A body of law in which courts create precedential principles.
What is stare decisis?
Once a legal decision is established it can not easily be changed.
What are extraordinary writs?
Judicial orders requiring people to do or stop them from doing something they want to.
What is a republican democracy?
A democracy is when citizens vote in a regular election. A republic is a democracy in which the majority rules through representatives who are elected.
What does the First Amendment state?
"Congress shall make no law... abridging freedom of speech; or of the press"
