-Lucius Junius Brutus and Lucius Tarquinius Colatinus (the grandson of Tarquin) exiled him from the city, then the Senators waited for him to return from battle, and simply locked the gates of the city.
-After a failed attempt to retake the city, he and his son went into exile. They later returned to try to take the city-state by force again and succeeded but it also resulted in the death of Brutus

- The Romans wanted to create a system where the people had a voice, not just one ruler.
