Economy was a root of imperialism because it increased the interest for international business, and an interest to open more markets due to the overproduction of goods. The banana republic was also a part of it because they wanted to be involved in their government and economy because we were growing fruits there. |

The U.S. intervened in the Philippines because we wanted to take control over Filipinos religion. Philippines would also be a key base where U.S. could protect trade with Asia. We went to war with Spain to keep them from interfering so we signed the Treaty of Paris and paid Spain 20 million dollars. |

We intervened in Hawaii because the planters got mad that the Queen removed U.S. power there. So, the Marines and Dole removed the queen from power . They also did it because Pearl Harbor was a good place to refuel ships. |

America should have intervened in the Philippines because it was a key to protecting trade in China. Trade with China is very important because without it, the industry here would not have been able to produce enough to fully supply the American people. |
