What is HPV
Human Papillomavirus
- Widely distributed throughout mammals and are highly species specific
Where does HPV infect?
Infect stratified squamous epithelial cells and epithelial basal cells (skin and mucous membranes) and stimulates cellular proliferation

Infection can result in benign hyperplasia, dysplasia or invasive carcinoma
