-이 is usually used for verb stems that end in a vowel [보다 -> 보이다] [바꾸다 -> 바꾸 + 이 + 다 = 바뀌다 --> 이름이 바뀌었어 - the name has been changed.] -기 is usually used for verb stems ending with ㄴ, ㅅ, ㅈ, ㅊ [안다 -> 안기다 - 아기가 엄마에게 안겼어 - the baby was held by the mother.] [쯫다 -> 쯫기다 - 경찰에게 쯫기고 있어 - i'm being chased by the police.] -리 is usually used for the verb stems that end with ㄹ [팔다 -> 팔리다 - 이 책 잘 팔려요?] [열다 -> 열리다 - 문이 안 열려요 - the door doesn't open.] -히 is usually used for verb stems that end with ㄱ, ㄷ, ㅂ [먹다 -> 먹히다 - 토끼가 사자에게 먹혔어요 - the rabbit was eaten by the lion.] [잡다 -> 잡히다 - 도둑이 잡혔어요 - the thief got caught.] -하다 becomes -되다 (exception) [초대하다 - 초대되다 - to be invited] [수리하다 -> 수리되다 - to be fixed] |
