Ritual Model
treats media use as an interactive ritual engaged in by audience members.

Ex. we watch American Idol with our families as a ritual, not because we are honestly interested in being educated about singing.
Publicity Model
How media attention can make a person, concept, or thing become important regardless of what is said about it.

Ex. Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction
Reception Model
How audience members derive and crate meaning out of media content as they decode the messages, how the person interprets it.
