What is a workflow? What consists of a workflow?
The path that a particular job takes from
start to finish. All workflows have an input and an output or an
intention and a result
What are the 4 elements of Workflow terminology?
Intention (same as input) = start of your workflow
Node = an operation
Direction = which way it’s moving
Results/Output = your final goal
What are the 3 different types of workflows?
– Electronic
– Physical
– Organizational
What are the characteristics of a good and efficient workflow?
– Well planned and structured
– Flexible enough to handle non-standard input
– Includes tracking and feedback
What are the 4 specific ways to describe a workflow?
1) Flowchart → each shape included in the workflow means different things.
2) Procedure → Step-by-step instructions, numbered, very structured
3) Descriptive → uses paragraphs, not as structured.
4) Computer Script →Could be computer script (a scriptive language like javascript)
Why not just put equipment where it fits?
