Sulfates
What are sulfates? Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is a powerful detergent used to absorb oil. You’ll notice shampoos that contain sulfates become extra foamy leaving you with the impression that your hair is extra clean. Sulfates can actually damage and weaken your hair, leaving the follicle stripped of essential oils needed for growth. They can also strip color from your perfectly color-treated hair. Under The Sun promotes growth, well-being and protection, which is why we do not use sulfates.
Parabens
What are parabens? Parabens are chemicals (methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben and isobutylparaben) used to preserve a product’s shelf life. Medical research suggests parabens can be a risk to your health. Under The Sun products are paraben free. It’s easy to avoid using these chemicals altogether, so we did.
Sodium Chloride
Sodium Chloride (NaCl), also known as table salt, reduces moisture, leaving your hair dry and stripped of essential oils. Under The Sun’s mission is just the opposite, so we left this out too. Safe for use on Keratin treated hair.
