Indirect data is a collection as a by-product from data collected for another purpose. eg: using data collected from reading barcodes at a supermarket till to work out stock levels |

Encoding data is data that has been processed to produce information

Precision is lost due to coding. EG: people classed in a 24-34 age bracket might not produce a pattern of results you were expecting.
