  • Front
  • Back
Serous Inflammation
- skin blister
Suppurative Inflammation
- large amounts of pus
Fibrinous Inflammation
- contains fibrin
catarrhal Inflammation
- large amounts of mucus discharge
Ulcer
- loss of tissue
Peripheral Nerve Repair
Wallarian Degeneration

-Neuromas- ?
Why does this only occur in the PNS
Wallarian Degeneration
1. distal axon degenerates, also myelin sheath degenerates

2. Schwann cells proliferate and lead the branching axon to neuromuscular junction

3. Sometimes axon cross and go to another neuromuscular junction- needs retraining
Factors that Delay Repair
Infection
Decreased Blood Supply
Mobilization
Protein/vitamin deficiency
Diabetes
cancer
Edema
- increased ISF, Increased PC, decrease in πC
Congestion
- stasis due to inefficient blood flow. “dam up backwards”
Thrombosis
- clot in the blood vessel, obstructs Blood flow
Embolism
- detached thrombosis, very dangerous can get lodged in the lungs, heart or brain
Infarction
- heart attack, stroke. Irreversible necrosis of tissue
Pc > πC = _____?
Pc > πC = Edema
