What causes Scarlet fever?
|
Streptococcus pyogenes. It is G+ and occurs in encapsulated chains.

Where do most Scarlet fever infections begin?
|
As infections of the respiratory tract with spread to the blood.

Do the bacteria produce a toxin?
|
Yes. Erythrogenic toxin that causes a skin rash. Penicillin is therapeutic.

|
Damage to heart valves(rheumatic heart disease)) or joint disease(rheumatic fever).

|
Strep. pyogenes.

Where do lesions begin in Erysipelas?
|
On the skin and grow with sharp borders. Penicillin is employed.

It is causes a species of Strep, Staph and others. It occurs frequently in children.

|
It is a general name for foot infections, one or both.

|
Soil organisms belonging to the genera of Nocardia, Actinomyces and Streptomyces.

|
They cause granular lesions that spread and may invade muscle and bone.

What is Gas gangrene?
|
It is a deep skin disease caused by Clostridium perfringens, C. novyi and C. septicum.

|
They are transported in spore form. They germinate and grow in dead and necrosed tissue which is anerobic, that putrfies the proteins and fermenting the carbohydrtaes to produce gas.

When exactly does gangrene begin?
|
The gas causes the tissue to expand, and as the cells die from lack of O2, gangrene begins. Antibiotics and O2 therapy with immune treatment is often obbligatory.

|
Bartonella henselae(Rochalimaea Afipia has not been confirmed as a possible cause.

What is Rat bite fever.
|
It is caused by the bite of a rat. It may be caused by Spirillum minor or Streptobacillis monilformis.

Yes The Streptobacillis is a Gram neg rod in chains.

What are symptoms of Rat bite fever?
|
Skin lesions, intermittent fever and a skin rash. Arthritis may also be present.
