D: (Distant) serious enough to affect the usability of an airport
L: (LOcal) Taxiway closures, beacon outages
FDC: amendments to published IAP's, charts and TFR's
What type of NOTAM's are omitted from a pilot briefings unless requested?
NOTAM D and FDC that are published in NTAP (Notice to Airman Publication)
Where can NOTAM info be obtained?
FSS, DUATS, NTAP from Briefer or FAA website.
Will FSS briefer volunteer GPS NOTAMS?
No. A pilot must request GPS NOTAMS during a briefing.
If no IAP has been published the ceiling and visibility minimums are allowing?
Normal descent from MEA, descent and landing under basic VFR. Ceiling (broken or overcast cloud bases) are more than 1,000 feet above the ground, and the visibility is three miles or more, the weather is VFR.
