Differential Validity

Minimizing discrimination. Occurs when there are different criterion-related validity coefficients for minority and non-minority groups.

Adverse Impact

Minimizing doscrimination. Based on the 80% 4/5th rule. Occurs when the percentages of minorities hired is less than 4/5th of the percentage of non-minorities hired.

Unfairness

Minimizing discrimination. Evidence by the regression lines being parallel. Occurs when there are differences on predictor scores for the minority and non-minorities groups, but criterion scores are similar.



A test is fair when the regression lines are equivalent for minorities and non-minorities.
