What is the endoplasmic reticulum?
An extension of the nuclear envelope
What is the mitochondria?
Energy store house for the cell (in the form of ATP)
What is chloroplast?
Produce sugars by photosynthesis
What is the cytoskeleton?
-Organizes and moves cell parts
-Reinforces cell shape
-Interactions between motor proteins and microtubules in cilia, flagella, and pseudopods can move the whole cell
-Components of the cytoskeleton:
Microtubules, Microfilaments, Intermediate filaments
What do we use to let things in and out of cells?
Proteins
What's a nucleus?
positively charged proton in the center of the cell which electrons orbit around
What is a covalent bond?
where atoms share electrons
What is the cell theory?
All organisms consist of one or more cells
The cell is the smallest unit that retains the capacity for life
A cell arises from the growth and division of another cell
What are valence electrons?
electrons that float around the outer layer
