Harold Godwinson - He was English, and he came from a very powerful and rich family. Also the king apparently promised him the crown in his dying breath. He is also Edward's brother inlaw
Harold Hardrada - He was related to the previous king of England, he had a reputation as a soilder.
William of Normandy - he isn't related to Edward, but he is a good war leader and he was promised the throne.
Edgar Atheling - Edward is his great uncle, he is a small boy and hasn't proved himself yet. |

Harold's tactics - he had the higher ground but less men, he could afford to wait so he could get reinforcements. William's tactics - he had the low ground but more men, he couldn't afford to wait because Harold might get reinforcements. But he tricked Harold's men down the hill and killed them. |
