Nazism- Wiemar Republic: major economic crisis, unstoppable inflation,caused the crash of WR. Sick+tired of corrupt liberals & longed for an Authoritarian Gov. Adolph Hitler-*Born in Austria, Not Germany . Violent political prejudices. "Sweep all 30 political parties out of Germany" "Germany will be purified/better place" ,becomes chancellor of state. He wanted to show the world mental illness. MODERN ART MUST BE BANISHED GET RID OF JEWS/ Mentally ill/ Handicapped "Idiots outnumbering Normal people" T4 project- doctors helped with carbon monoxide. JUNE 22, 1941 Operation Barbarossa ***** Hitler- War of extermination: Half Jews/ Half Bolsheviks Siege of Leningrad- Today's St. Petersburg, Lasted 872 days, Germans surrounded the city & began air attacks Diary of Tania Savicheva- 12yr.old survivor out of entire fam STALINGRAD- "Stalins City" Most industrialized Hitler invaded next did not wait. BATTLE OF STALINGRAD (NOV-DEC 1942)- Russians won because Stalin kept mothers/children so men would fight harder. HOLOCAUST-"Genocide" 6 mil. Jews/ Undesirables were killed by Germans *Vast Death camps (T4 Projects) -Gas chamber/ovens After Hitler invaded Russia: FINAL SOLUTION OF THE JEWISH QUESTION *All exits were closed, Jews could not leave* Stalin ask to open a second front. 1944- D-Day (U.S , Britain, Canada) MAY 1945 - WW2 is OVER April-Hitler Commits suicide FINAL HUMAN DEATH TOLL - 50 million. |
