Ionian Revolt

Aristagoris revolted against Persian control (Greek 499) Sought support from Sparta (turned him down) then Athens who sent 4,000 men and 20 ships. Started victorious but burned down a Persian temple which angered Darius then the Persians stomped out the revolt

Marathon (Battle of)

Defeat of Darius, Persian attempt at invading mainland Greece. Athenians and Allies beat the Persians. Militiades lead the Athenians (490 B.C.)

480, battle of 300 Spartans vs. Persian Army. At pass of the sea very Narrow and Northern. Delayed Persian advance to prepare of the Persians elsewhere.

Plotted to kill Hippias and Hiparcus. Plan failed but killed Hiparcus. Hippias became more tyrannical. 514 B.C.
