Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc. (the “Sorority) was founded on

September 29, 1990.

The finalized split between the original Founders (leaving 13) was on

February 16, 1991.

|
The Genesis Chapter crossed on March 2, 1991. They included all four Founding Chapters
|
(SUNY Albany, SUNY Stony Brook, SUNY New Paltz and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.)
|
|
|
“Las Primers Damas” crossed on April 20, 1991 at 6:45 p.m. Their contributions were the
|
Pledge Manual and the first secret rituals of the Sorority.
|
|
|
The Sorority was incorporated in the State of New York on
|
August 5th, 1991.
|
|
|
The Sorority was qualified to do business in the
|
State of Texas in July 2003.
|
|
|
The Sorority was recognized as a 501c7 tax exempt entity on
|
September 19, 2003.
|
|
|
The Solidaridad, Inspiracion y Amistad Foundation (the “Foundation”) was incorporated in
|
the State of Maryland on December 23, 2003.
|
|
|
The Foundation was recognized as a 501c3 tax exempt entity with “Scheduled H” approval to serve as a scholarship grantor on
|
September 13, 2005.
|
|
|
On May1, 2005, the Sorority integrated the Foundation into, and otherwise revised
|
its organizational structure.
|
|
|
The first Board of Trustees of the Sorority and the Foundation
|
was installed on September 24, 2005.
|
|
|
The National Executive Board of the Sorority for the years 2009 – 2011 is comprised of:
|
President – Marisol Palau, Treasurer – Jessica Lynn Rivera, VP of Alumnae Affairs – Monica Rivera, VP of Undergraduate Affairs – Jasmine Loubriel and VP of Communications Marisol Palau (Interim)
