The daily work schedule for fire stations shall be as follows:
0800 0900 Daily station, apparatus, equipment, and general maintenance
0900-1200 * Scheduled work
1200 1245 Meal, rest
1245 1600 * Scheduled work
1600 1700 Daily maintenance/physical fitness
1700 1745 Meal, rest
1745 2200 Physical fitness, night drill, or training exercise
Sleeping is permissible only in a member's assigned bed between
1900 and 0630 hours.
Company/Relief Commanders. Projected activities shall be entered in the HFD Activity Calendar no later than
the last work shift prior to the upcoming month.
BCs. Information entered into the HFD Activity Calendar shall be completed at least
one work shift prior to the actual date for that activity.

Company Commanders at 0800 hours shall
review official communications, announce items of interest, and give instruction as necessary.
If the off duty brief information requires a personal exchange, verbal approval for
15 minutes (0800-0815 hours) of OT compensation for the off-going BC or Company Commander shall be requested from the on-duty BC for Company Commanders or the AC of OPS for BCs.

OPS daily staffing level averages

Alpha/Bravo Staffing enables the Department to provide a
larger workforce with the ability to function for 24 hours a day/seven days a week for a limited amount of time.
With advance notice of an impending incident, and based upon information from the DEM, all on-duty members will be notified over the base radio system every
six hours, beginning when the DEM issues a Hurricane Watch.
The DEM will issue a Hurricane Watch (based on information from the National Weather Service) when
sustained winds of 74 miles per hour or greater, heavy rains, and/or dangerous waves pose a threat to coastal areas within 36 hours.
The DEM will issue a Hurricane Warning (based on information from the National Weather Service) when
hurricane conditions are expected in a specific coastal area in 24 hours or less.
Alpha/Bravo Staffing will activate at _________________________ after a Hurricane Warning has been issued.

When members are required to relieve at another station, they shall provide their own
transportation.
Substitution is an agreement between two individuals performing work in the same capacity to
work the other person’s scheduled work hours.
Substitution shall be for a minimum of
15 minutes and shall not exceed a continuous 24-hour shift.
The person who is being substituted for is responsible for the “substitution” and will be considered absent without leave and charged with LWOP if
the substitute did not report for duty as agreed.
Substitution for ranked personnel shall be restricted to
the same battalion.
For substitutions less than one hour,
verbal approval is required from the immediate on-duty supervisor.
For substitutions of one hour or more,
the person requesting the substitution shall submit an HFD 004B form.
To the extent possible, the employee requesting the substitution should be notified whether or not the request will be permitted or denied no less than
five days prior to the substitution.
Substitution shall be journalized in the appropriate battalion and/or company journal to include
the names, date, and start and end times.
Station and apparatus maintenance duties shall be done
daily or weekly, depending on the duty.
Daily station maintenance shall be conducted
after the 0800 hours lineup and at 1600 hours by members except the Company Commanders and members approved by the Company Commander to prepare lunch or dinner.
Stations equipped with permanent flagstaffs on their station grounds shall display the American and Hawaiian flags daily from
sunrise to sunset 0700 to 1800 hours.
