-Jxn area bw thorax & neck
-Boundaries:
Laterally = 1st pair of ribs & their cartilage
Anteriorly = manubrium of sternum

contains subcutaneous tissue & platysma muscle
Investing fascia
-envelopes entire neck
-splits to envelope Trap & SCM
-superiorly encapsulates parotid & submandibular glands
Pretrachial fascia
-does not envelope muscles (goes around thyroid, trachea, & esophagus)
-continuous w/ buccopharyngeal fascia superiorly & descends to mediasteinum
Prevertebral fascia
envelopes vertebrae and muscles
Carotid sheath
-composed of contributions from all 3 fascia layers:
-investing fascia, prevert, carotid sheath
-envelopes 3 structures (no muscle): common carotid, vagus, & internal jugular vein

Roof: Skin, sup. fascia w/ platysma & deep investing fascia
