Claudius went into confession, so Hamlet wasn't sure about killing him anymore.

He isn't actually repenting during confession, but Hamlet didn't know that.
"It had been so with us, had we been there."

If he had been where Polonius was hiding when Hamlet mistook him for Claudius and killed him, it would have been Claudius himself.
"When he needs what you have / gleaned, it is but squeezing you, and, sponge, you / shall be dry again."

The king is merely using Rosencratz and Gildenstern, and when they are no longer useful, they will be tossed aside.
