mainly in bays, and areas protected with sea grass, and around the coast lines of islands. they will rarely be seen in the open ocean.
They travel long distances and only come to shore when its time to nest. On a daily base they travel an avg of 12-25 miles.
their nesting sites are the same as their ancestors.. explain. everytime its ready to nest which is usually every 2-3 years they travel back to the same site where they were first hatched and where their parents brought them too.
their mating usually occurs .5 miles from the shore line.

the avg hatch layed by the female turtle is 110 eggs. they will refuse to nest unless there are no distractions what so ever.

Sea turtles can sleep at the surface while in deep water or on the bottom under rocks in nearshore waters
jaws have modified "beaks" suited to their particular diet. They do not have visible ears but have eardrums covered by skin. They hear best at low frequencies, and their sense of smell is excellent. Their vision underwater is good, but they are nearsighted out of water. Their streamlined bodies and large flippers make them remarkably adapted to life at sea. However, sea turtles maintain close ties to land.
