The Greek army decisively defeated the more numerous Persians, marking a turning point.


Greek messenger Pheidippides ran to Athens with news of the victory - 46km, inspired the marathon.

While Pheidippides was on his way to Athens, he was visited by the God Pan. He asked why they didn't pray to him. The runner apologised and said he will from the next time. So the next time they fought the Persians, apparently the God Pan appeared and created a sense of "panic" among the Persians!
