Noun

Words that are used to name persons, places or things.

Article

Used before nouns to make it clear exactly what the noun refers to.




Examples: A, an, the.

Definite Article

The definite article limits the meaning of a noun to one particular thing.




Example: There is only one: The.

Indefinite Articles

The indefinite article shows that a noun does not refer to a particular thing.




Examples: There are only two: A, an.

Proper Noun

Proper nouns always start with a capital letter and refer to specific names of persons, places, or things.




Examples: Mercedes, Subway, Game of Thrones

Common Noun

Common nouns are the opposite of proper nouns.These are just generic names of persons, things, or places.




Examples: car, restaurant, TV series

Pronoun

A part of speech which is used to replace a noun.




Examples: I, you, it, he, she, we, they.

Possessive Pronoun

Shows possession. Usually comes at the end of the phrase.




Examples: mine, yours, hers, his, ours, theirs.




Feminine: Hers


Masculine: His

Possessive Determiner

Shows possession. Usually comes before a noun.




Examples: my, your, her, his, our, their.




Feminine: Her


Masculine: His

Verb

A word that shows an action (physical or mental) or state of being.

Preposition

Tells you where an object is.




Examples: on, under, in, over, behind, in front of, next to.
