ShootingSchedule

Theday to day schedule of what scenes will be shot each day, what actors will berequired and where shooting will take place.


CallSheet

Writtennotice issued daily during production detailing the next day’s shoot. Contains suchinformation as the address of the location, call times, scenes to be shot, etc.

DailyProgress Report

Adetailed record of a day’s shooting. It lists elements like hours worked,scenes completed, footage shot, accidents, etc.


CostReport

Ananalysis of expenditure to date and cost to complete the film. Compiled weeklyduring production, it monitors costs and compares costs to the productionbudget.

MainUnit

Theprincipal film crew. The term is used to differentiate it from the second unit.

SecondUnit

Anadditional and separate film crew to the main unit who film shots which do notrequire the services of the full shooting crew.

Set

Theinterior or exterior location where the film is being shot.

Set-up/Shot/Take

ASet-up is shooting from a particular camera position. Different Shots can betaken from the same setup (e.g. a wide shot and then a close-up). Each shot isrepeated with different Takes until the Director is satisfied artistically andtechnically.

Slate

Clapperboard used to synchronise image and sound and identify shots. Used at the frontof every take or as an end slate.

SecondCamera

Theaddition of another camera to the main unit which will then shoot at the sametime as the main camera but from a different angle.

Pick-up

Ascene or shot or sound recording which is done some time after it wasoriginally scheduled. It may be done during Principal Photography or inPost-Production.

Rushes(aka Dailies)

Thefirst screening of synchronised shots from a day’s work.
