hip hugger: a fit of pants worn by both men and women that hugs the hips and thighs tightly, flaring out from the knee to the the hem at the bottom of the leg. the tight fit on the waist creates a defined line that fits to the natural form of the wearer, the line created around the hips evenly divides the top and bottom half of the wearer creating horizontal symmetrical balance. The tight fit on the thighs paired withe the flare of the bottom half creates vertical diagonal lines traveling up the leg elongating their apparent size while greatly slimming the apparent size of the thighs.
