Neolithic Revolution
The major change in early man's lifestyle: the beginning of farming. People started producing food instead of gathering.
Nomad
A person who has no permanent home, who wanders in a group in search of food/water. May follow a herd of animals.
Irrigation
The process in which water is brought to crop fields. The water source is generally otherwise inaccessible.
Civilization
A form of culture characterized by cities, specialized workers, complex institutions, record keeping, and advanced technology.
Theocracy
When a system of government is ruled by religious leaders, or when a gov't is based off of a religion. Opposite of secular government.
Pharaoh
A king of the Ancient Egypt civilization; thought to be a god, as well as a military and political figure.
Pyramids
Structures built by the Egyptians to encase their deceased Pharaohs. Inside were prized/expensive possessions.
Hieroglyphics
The Ancient Egypt civilization's writing system, where pictures were used to represent actions and ideas.

Cuneiform
A system of writing where ideas and actions were written in clay with wedge-shaped tools. Used by early Mesopotamian civilization.

The Babylonian ruler's code of 250+ laws, which were engraved in stone. Harsh punishments & distinct class separation.
