Monsoons

Desertification
The process in which a piece of land becomes dry, infertile, and unusable, from natural causes or destructive use.
Overpopulation
When a place is home to more people than can be supported properly.
Deforestation
The destruction of a forest area by cutting down or burning trees.
Terraced Farming
Taking a fertile mountain, and cutting levels into it, allowing for farming to take place on the mountain
Loess
A soil that is made up of clay and silt, carried by the wind.
Steppe
A biome characterized by grassland plain without trees. Similar to a prairie
Savannah
A biome that is a large area of flat, grassy land. Like steppe, except this is in Africa, and steppe is more Northern.
Pampas
A biome very similar to savannah and steppe, except it is found in South America
Fertile Crescent
The area of fertile land between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, known as Mesopotamia. (Bigger crescent extends to Nile R.)
Arable Land
Land that can be used for growing crops.
Arid
Land that is too dry for plants to grow on.
Desalinization
The removal of salt from ocean water so that it can be used for crops, drinking, etc.
Cash Crop
A crop grown for the purpose of selling for profit.
Geopolitics
The way geography effects politics and how geography effects the relationships between countries.
