What is the definition of a rhombus?
All sides are equal and opposite angles are equal.
What is the definition of a trapezoid.
One pair of opposite sides are parallel.
What is the formula for find the sum of the interior angles of a polygon?
180*(n-2).
Where n is the number of sides of the polygon. |
What is the area of a trapezoid?
(base1+base2)*h/2
Or you can think of it as a the average of the bases * height. (average base)*height/2 |
What is the area of rhombus?
Diagonal1*Dagonal2/2
What is the triangle inequality?
The sum of any two sides of a triangle must be GREATER than the third side.
List 3 common right angle triangles?
3-4-5
5-12-13 5-15-17 |
Given a right angle triangle with sides 1:1:sqrt(2) what are the angles for this triangle?
45:45:90
Given a right angle triangle with sides 1:sqrt(3):2 what are the angles for this triangle?
30:60:90
What is the definition of an equilateral triangle?
It's a triangle where all the sides are equal and all the angles are equal.
True or false the largest angle in a triangle correspondso the the largest side.
True
True or false an equilateral triangle can be divided up into 2 30:60:90 triangles?
True
Example: Given that an equilaterial traingle has a side length fo 10, what is its height? 30:60:90 1:sqrt(3):2 5:5*sqrt(3):10 |
What is the difference between center angle and inscribed angle?
center angles are those that lie at center of the circle.
inscribed angles are those that lie on the circle itself. |
What is the angle relationship between a center angle and an inscribed angle?
2* inscribed angle = center angle.
What is the relationship between inscribed triangles with one side the diameter of the circles?
All inscribed triangle in a circle with one side as the diameter of the circle are right angle triangles.
What is the area of a cylinder?
2*(area of a circle)+(circumference of circle*height)
What is the relationship between the exterior angles of a triangle and the interior angles?
An exterior angle of a triangle is equal in measure to the sum of the two non-adjacent interior angles of the triangle.
How do you find the shortest distance between any two points on a co-ordinate system?
Use Pythagorean Theorem.
Example. What is the distance between the points (1,3) and (7, -5). sqrt((-5-3)^2+(7-1)^2)=10 |
How do you find the slope of a perpendicular bisector of a line?
Inverse the slope of a line and flip the sign.
Example. If the coordinate of A are (2,2) and the coordinates off B are (0,-2, what is the equation of the perpendicular bisector of segment AB. The slop of AB is: rise/run = 4/2=2 Thus to find the perpendicular bisector take the inverse of the slope and change the sign. Therefore -1/2 is the slope. To find the equation of the perpendicular bisector we need one point and we know that the perpendicular bisector passess through the midpoint of AB. Thus, A = (2,2) midpoint = (1,0) B = (0,-2) Thus y=mx+b 0=-1/2+b b=1/2 Therefore equation is y=-1/2x+1/2 or 2y=1-x |
