Spearman Rank

Used to measure the degree to which there is correlation between two sets of data/variables.

Formula

(R) = 1 - 6 sum of d2

----------------

n3 - n

Steps of Spearman Rank

1. Rank 1st set of data from highest to lowest

2. Rank 2nd set of data from highest to lowest

3. BEWARE OF TIED RANKS, in order to allocate such values calculate the rank that they occupy

4. Calculate the difference (d) for each set of data

5. Square the difference

6. Add up the squared differences together and multiply by 6

7. Calculate the value of n3 - n

8. Divide A by B (top half ÷ bottom half of equation) take the result away from 1
